The Nest
By Franz Xaver Kroetz
New translation by Conor McPherson
Directed by Ian Rickson
Original music composed by PJ Harvey
Most people are just like you and me. Just doing their best. They don’t mean any harm. You didn’t know what you were doing – it was an accident…..
Parents-to-be Kurt and Martha just want the best for their baby. They’re not afraid of hard work - the latest buggy doesn’t come cheap. But when Kurt’s boss offers him a chance to make some easy money with a mysterious side job, his rashness catches up with him.
Conor McPherson has written a powerful new version of Franz Xaver Kroetz’s German fable about the moral and environmental cost of our materialistic nesting instincts. This co-production between the Lyric Theatre and the Young Vic is directed by Ian Rickson with original music by the acclaimed singer-songwriter PJ Harvey, and features two of the stars of the award-winning RTE drama Love/Hate - Caoilfhionn Dunne and Laurence Kinlan.
