Seaside Snapshots - A Young Players production, with music set in the 1960s. Directed by Jonah Thompson
A 'Romeo and Juliet' themed story set on Scarborough beach.
Two very different families meet on the beach. Julie from one family falls in love with Ronnie from the other and mayhem results, including a confrontation between 'Mods' and 'Rockers' on the sea front, a near drowning and a dramatic rescue.
Unlike Shakespeare's version all is finally resolved and everyone lives happily ever after. Nobody ends up dead.
The play is performed by the Senior Young Players. Producer, Tony Jones, Musical Director, Alan Cropley.
Written by Tony Jones and the late Robert Southwick this play was first performed at Hayfield School and later at the Phoenix Theatre in Bawtry some nine years ago. We decided it needed reviving. The play is set in the sixties and all the music comprises classic songs from that era.
