Mendelssohn – Overture: Ruy Blas Op 95
Bruch – Violin Concerto No 2 in D minor Op 44
Beethoven – Symphony No 6 in F major Op 68 Pastoral
Bath Mozartfest is delighted to welcome the Hallé back to the city, in the company of the orchestra’s internationally acclaimed Music Director Sir Mark Elder. The Canadian violin virtuoso James Ehnes is the soloist in a concerto by Max Bruch: not the famous No 1 in G minor, but its successor, a work every bit as expressive, dramatic and brilliant. The concert begins with Mendelssohn’s pulsing Ruy Blas Overture, and ends with perhaps the most loved of Beethoven’s symphonies, the Pastoral Sixth.
