Theatre Royal Bath Young People's Theatre (YPT)

This brand new play written by international playwright and director Greg Banks, in collaboration with the YPT, explores how young people growing up in Bath and the surrounding area feel about their city.

What is it like to be a teenager living in a location steeped in history and so famous for its past? Is it a city which looks forward or is it neglecting its future? Given a chance how would Bath’s young people change it?

To coincide with this year’s election, YPT members have examined places in and around Bath that are significant to them and asked why? In this new work written, performed and developed by the company in collaboration with visiting director Greg Banks, the teenagers reveal ‘their Bath’ and give an insight into what they think lies ahead.

Using stories, direct quotes and interviews with cast members, as well as other local teenagers and Bath residents to create Where We Are, this new play features the spirit of people of the city and tackles issues which strike a chord with the younger generation from pressure at school to concerns over paying taxes and Bath’s population of homeless people.

The Theatre Royal’s YPT production of Where We Are features a cast of fifteen, aged from twelve to eighteen years, from Bath and the surrounding towns and villages, including Calne, Saltford, Marshfield and Doynton.
