Two fashionable young gentlemen from London arrive in the depths of Somerset to woo their ladies - one willingly, one with extreme reluctance.
Tricked into thinking the dilapidated mansion they arrive at is an inn, they treat heir host as a common landlord, they get into in a tangled plot involving stolen jewels, elopement and highwaymen, and, after a disastrous first meeting with his bride to be, our reluctant hero falls in love with a bar maid.
