Loder Celebration 2015

A free walk led by members of the Honorary Corps of Mayor's Guides from the Assembly Rooms to the Holburne Museum which explores the life and times of musicians who have lived in Bath.

The image of musicians Elizabeth and Thomas Linley reflects a bygone age when the city of Bath attracted the nobility and gentry from London who came, not just for their health, but to enjoy the very best in musical entertainments. Those were the days of William Herschel and Venanzio Rauzzini.

Such diversions were continued into the 19th century under the auspices of the Loder family of musicians who lived in the city between 1770 and 1840.

This walk will be of interest to those who want to find out more about the city's musical heritage in the late Georgian and early Victorian periods. The walk finishes in the Bathwick district of the city where a branch of the Loder family lived and worked.

A lunchtime concert in St Mary's Parish Church at 1:00pm will feature music by Kate Loder in aid of the organ fund appeal.
