It's back! John Kellys 'Sparkies' makes a welcome return to The Lamproom prior to visiting The National Coal Mining Museum in Wakefield! The first of The Ryecroft Trilogy, 'Sparkies' follows the fortunes of Vince Modley and friends in 1966, when pit closures and winning the World Cup were the topics of the day.
A fifteen year old Barnsley lad answers the call and learns more about life than he does about being an electrician! Join him in the year when Harold Wilson's pit closures rocked the town, England won the World Cup and it was only 1/9 for 20 No 6 tipped! 'Sparkies' contains some pit language - in context, of course!
