Paul Davies - Voice, Low Whistle, Bodhran
Mark Gaultier - Guitar

From the lonely mountains of Scotland to the salt-washed shores of Brittany come tales of lost lovers and ghostly riddles, jaunty sailors and innocent serving maids, traitorous siblings and magical denouements. These are the songs of the people, the musical heritage of the Brythonic and Goidelic Celts, entertainments which have sustained the Welsh, Irish, Scottish and Breton nations for generations - now imagined for the present by Dynion Glas.

Baritone Davies is charming as the teller of tales, drawing us into the socio-historic context of each song with humour and erudition, sometimes with an explanatory narrative (some of the pieces are in their native tongue). Gaultier, a fine guitarist, is the musical bedrock, the tones of his English made “Spanish” guitar provide a tapestry of contrasting textures through which Davies’ vocals and haunting, whistle-blown melodies weave with total freedom.

“Tender, beautifully played music … consummate skill and genuine passion” - David Markham: Yorkmix.
