Slemish Players

Slemish Players, the local drama group where Liam Neeson started his career, presents Steel Magnolias, a comedy–drama play about the bond among a group of Southern women in northwest Louisiana.

Written by Robert Harling, it is based on his experience with his sister's death. The title suggests the 'female characters are as delicate as magnolias but as tough as steel'. The magnolia specifically references a magnolia tree they are arguing about at the beginning.

A young beautician, newly arrived in a small Louisiana town, finds work at the local salon, where a small group of women share a close bond of friendship and welcome her into the fold.
