Special Interest Day: The Splendour Of French Gilt Bronzes
Objects in gilt bronze, and objects mounted in gilt bronze, were an important part of the decorative arts in 18th-century France, and ormolu from Paris was exported all over Europe. Clocks were made of bronze, furniture, porcelain and other fine objects were adorned with bronze.
In the morning lecture, Associate Curator, Ulrich Leben, will present the stylistic evolution and the works of the masters in this field, explaining the styles and the history of production in the age of the Guilds.
In the afternoon, a study session will look at examples from the rich collections of gilt bronzes at Waddesdon Manor.
Includes House and Gardens admission, coffee on arrival, two course lunch with wine and afternoon tea and cakes.
