Festival Choral Concert
The University of Chichester Chamber Choir, University Singers and the Chichester Chorale join forces with the Festival Orchestra in a performance of Benjamin Britten’s St Nicolas Cantata. Tom Robson (tenor) will be taking the lead role of Nicolas in this choral masterpiece.
The text of Saint Nicolas was written by Eric Crozier after extensive research into the legendary life of Saint Nicholas, Bishop of Myra, Lycia. Crozier's libretto paints a dramatically bold portrait of the saint's character, exaggerating the legends and glory that have accumulated over the centuries around Nicholas's story. Britten's music enhances the drama of Crozier's text using striking contrasts in instrumentation, vocal style, and musical textures.
If you are a University of Chichester student or staff member you will be admitted to this concert free of charge, if booking in advance only. You will need to provide a student card or staff card at the door. 1 ticket only per student/staff member please.
