RoughDitch Folk

The Community Centre in Alton is continuing a fun-filled night which it hopes will expand on the success of the last events.

Pete Stephens and Barbara Parry and their band (RoughDitchFolk and friends) have been on the folk music and barn dance circuit in Surrey and Hampshire for many years. They really do know how to get even the most reluctant dancers feeling comfortable enough to get up on the dance floor. Barn dancing is for everyone and you don't have to know the dances beforehand so any beginners can attend with confidence! Barbara calls all the steps to make sure everyone has a great time.

Barbara Parry is one of the main organisers of the night and says "Sometimes our dance events are called ceilidhs ("kay-lees") to let people know it's a sociable evening of traditional folk music to dance to, so you don't need to hunt high and low for your cowboy boots...just come along as you are and have a great time!" A fun evening for all ages is definitely on the cards.
