One of the most popular Welsh language television programmes for children is set to make a comeback – on stage!

Wales’ answer to Laurel and Hardy – Syr Wynff ap Concord y Bos and Plwmsan y Twmffat Twp have been given a new lease of life, with thanks to financial backing by the Arts Council of Wales.

Following a successful research and development period last year, it has been confirmed that the new original Welsh language production Raslas Bach a Mawr! will be presented at 6 venues across Wales, bringing the iconic 1980s characters back to life, and introducing them to new audiences.

Created by Wynford Ellis Owen, who also played Syr Wynff ap Concord y Boss, and featuring Mici Plwm as Plwmsan y Twmffat Twp – the programme was first televised on BBC Wales in the 70s before switching to S4C after the channel was launched in 1982.

The series was extremely popular and enjoyed by thousands, until its premature end in 1989 - in fact, a petition signed by over 15,000 people was presented to S4C demanding its return to our screens – but to no avail.

Now, more than 25 years since the last episode was televised, the stage production will see a welcome return of the madcap antics of the two unlikely heros and their friends, with slapstick comedy, explosions and slepjans, in a show for audiences of all ages, across Wales.
