A Play, A Pie And A Pint - His Final Bow
His Final Bow by Peter Arnott.
In March of 1865, John Wilkes Booth, one of the great American actors of his generation, assassinated President Lincoln, by jumping onto the stage to yell the Latin tag 'Sic Semper Tyrannis!' and breaking his ankle as he did so.
He was finally caught twelve days later when the boy he sends out to buy the week's newspapers in search of reviews of his historical performance, attracts the attention of the authorities. His Final Bow is all about the final curtain, disillusioned fans, death and dishonour.
