Full of crackling melodrama that grabs from the get-go, Tosca is a must-see for both newcomers and aficionados alike.
Designed to make attending a favourite opera as easy as possible, our Dementia Friendly performances run alongside the full-length performances in Glasgow and Edinburgh, and this Season, for the first time, in Aberdeen too.
Each of our Dementia Friendly operas is specially created, and is a fully-staged, shortened version of the show.
A narrator, The Orchestra of Scottish Opera and a full cast of singers lead audiences through the story and some of the best-loved music from the opera. The show lasts under two hours, with an interval, and doors open 45 minutes before the start time so there is lots of time to find your seat and get settled in for the performance. There are plenty of wheelchair spaces and extra staff on hand to help those who wish to transfer. Lighting levels in the auditorium are slightly brighter, and members of the audience are able to come in and out of the auditorium if they need to, or to watch the show in the bar on TV screens if they prefer.
