James Kelman is the most influential Scottish writer of his generation. He’s a Booker Prize winner (for How Late it was, How Late), an internationally renowned novelist and short story writer, dramatist, essayist and polemicist who has drawn comparisons with Beckett and Kafka.
Outspoken and politically engaged, he brings an uncompromising integrity to everything he does. But the work is grounded in a profound humanity, shot through with a dark (and recognisably Glaswegian) sense of humour. Hearing him read his own work is an unforgettable experience.
