There’s a new venue in town! Worthing has long been awaiting Factory Live. It’s a new 300 capacity space with a pristine, spanking fresh Yamaha sound system, a mouth-watering bar, industry standard lighting, a modular stage, a DJ booth, the best green room in the region and a whole lot more.
The brainchild of Steve Gardner, who’s grown the venue from his successful Soundhouse music/dance studio business, the calendar is programmed by seasoned promoters ATOM. Where Steve has an absolute handle on the space and its capabilities, ATOM have lined up a mouth-watering array of gigs. These range from reggae legend Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry to new wave maverick Toyah, from US blues virtuoso Greg Koch to cult indie-folk act Turin Brakes, from Beatbox hero Beardyman to ‘90s indie stars Space.
There are also lively comedy nights and plenty of club action too, including the HEROES indie night featuring a DJ set from Carl Barat of The Libertines. Factory Live also supports local talent, ranging from rising young bands finding their feet to kids’ Christmas shows. It’s a space adaptable in size for a wide range of events, and it exudes energy and professionalism.
“It’s such a great space,” Steve enthuses, “We put our backs into it and turned it into a purpose built live music and theatre venue. There can be 50 kids up onstage singing their hearts out or a four-piece band rockin’ the roof off. We have a state-of-the-art DJ booth, and the whole has been acoustically tested to get the sound perfect. I really think we can add to what Worthing is becoming.”
Judging from the enthusiastic response in the area, there’s a real appetite for this. Factory Live’s adventure is just beginning. Expect to be hearing much, much more very soon....
