About the show

Join Alexander Woodrow, Organist and Director of Music at Leeds Minster, for the second recital in his remarkable Hiking Organist challenge.

Over six days, Alex is walking the entire 104-mile White Rose Way from Leeds to Scarborough, giving a recital each evening whilst raising funds and awareness for the Leeds Minster Choral Scholarship Programme, which supports talented young singers and musicians.

Having completed the first stage of the journey from Leeds, Alex arrives in Wetherby for an exciting and varied 50-minute programme featuring some of the most popular and spectacular works in the organ repertoire:

J. S. Bach – Toccata and Fugue in D minor

C. M. Widor – Toccata from Symphonie V

Music by S. S. Wesley, Mendelssohn and Vierne

From dramatic virtuosity to moments of reflection and beauty, this concert showcases the organ at its finest.

Admission is free, with a cash retiring collection in aid of the Leeds Minster Choral Scholarship Programme.

Refreshments will be served following the concert.

Come and support Alex on the first day of this unique Yorkshire musical pilgrimage.

Support the Journey. Inspire the Future.
