About the show
Join us for another fantastic Watford Comedy Night at the Pump House. We’ve teamed up with Comedy Hotspot to bring you entertainment brimming with comedic excellence and featuring some of the best stand-up acts currently doing the national comedy circuit.
We're delighted to welcome four crackers to get you laughing your socks off.:
Hosting our show is hilarious Scottish comedian Stephen Carlin who has received great critical acclaim, accolades and a growing fanbase with his original and insightful writing style and accomplished delivery. He is a very enigmatic act, using a unique pattern of delivery to amuse the audience with very unexpected and off the wall references.
Opening the show is Michael Akadiri, a fast rising multi award winning comedian. His natural charm and cheeky, observational style has already seen him make an impact on the UK comedy scene.
Taking up the middle slot we have Howard Anstock who, with his deeply personal material that mixes anecdotes and experiences, has been described as “an acidic Victoria Wood”.
Closing the show we have American Dave Fulton, who started making a living doing stand-up comedy stateside back when there was only clubs and Letterman. Her never envisioned it would lead to living in London England and performing shows in 25 different countries.
Please note that the artists appearing may be subject to change.
Featuring
Stephen Carlin
Stephen Carlin began his stand-up career in 2002 and soon became a permanent fixture on the comedy circuit, supporting Stewart Lee and Stephen Merchant on tour, also appearing in Stewart Lee's 10 Best Stand-ups In the World Ever. As seen on ‘The Alternative Comedy Experience’, ‘Comedy at the Fringe’, ‘Edinburgh and Beyond’ and ‘Comedy Cuts’ ITV as well as featuring on Radio 4’s ‘Loose Ends’ and ‘Friday Night Live’, 'Sharp, slightly offbeat, mainly very funny' (Bruce Dessau, Evening Standard) 'The whimsy and relaxed on-stage demeanour were a winner instantly... (Carlin) excelled in pedantry, married to exceptional use of language' (Leamington Observer) '... if this man isn't a household name in five years' time, the world is even more lacking in justice than we could have feared' (The Scotsman) '... a delightfully off beat act who expertly applies twisted, convoluted logic to common-or-garden observations to produce genuinely original material... a definite tip for the top' (Chortle).

Dave Fulton
Whoever it was who decided that Americans don't have any sense of irony, they forgot to tell Dave Fulton. This wry Seattle wag is positively brimming over with ironic invective. With his stringy beard, straggly long hair and rock 'n' roll black leather jacket, Fulton looks more like a refugee from a defunct British heavy metal band than an all-American stand-up... there's a salty flavour to his live club set that you'd scarcely describe as feminist. It's these contradictions that make Fulton so fascinating, and fun to watch, especially when he's riffing with British punters half a world away from home. (The Guide). "It's only comics with something to say that cross the Atlantic." The Guardian "Fulton is left as a sole crusader for US topical comedy." The List
