Part of the mod revival of the late seventies, The Chords were spotted by Paul Weller at a gig at The Wellington Pub in Waterloo. Supports with The Undertones, The Purple Hearts, The Jam & Secret Affair followed. Jimmy Pursey of Sham 69 signed them to his own label before they moved to Polydor. A tempestuous couple of years followed, with lead singer duties being taken over by ex-Vibrators front man Kip. The band called it a day in 1982.
They were one of the more successful groups to emerge during the revival, and they re-formed with the four original members for a UK tour during 2010. More recently in Spring of 2012, Buddy, Chris and Bill reformed and played gigs in London, Tokyo and Australia.
