Clarinettist and saxophonist Sammy Rimington has dedicated his life to playing New Orleans music.
He started playing professionally 51 years ago at age 18 joining Ken Colyer's Jazzmen. He has visited New Orleans many times and also lived there when he was able to play with some of the great historic names of New Orleans music including the legendary George Lewis who became his friend and teacher.
In 2013 Sammy published a book tracing his fifty plus years on the road, in pictures, working with Colyer, Lewis, Cap'n John Handy and many other legendary New Orleans performers.
'Sammy Rimington’s playing demonstrates the clarinet's matchless range of funky virtuosity, which makes jazz's past as real as its future' (The New York Times).
