Dir En Grey is a Japanese rock band formed in 1997. Their live shows are shocking and dramatic with scenes of self-mutilation and their lyrics are dark and sorrowful with plenty of danger thrown in. Vocalist Kyo has a particular unusual vocal style, varying from throaty, screaming vocals to quieter, more melodic arrangements.
