Crows were one of the most popular groups on the folk scene in the late '70s and early '80s. The band's combination of four strong voices and expert musicianship plus its exciting arrangements of traditional songs and the songwriting skills of Ryan/Patterson Crows, regularly headlined festivals and concerts around the country and were mainstays of the folk club circuit.
Following the untimely death, in 2013, of founder member Ralph Jordan previously unreleased radio recordings were discovered and a ‘new’ album, Time To Rise, was released in 2016 to enthusiastic reviews. Three of the second line-up of the original group remain in this Crows revival. James Patterson plays guitar and renews the powerful vocal blend with Mick Ryan; Dave Bordewey plays fiddle and cittern, and adds his astonishing high harmony lines to the vocal mix. Finally, the inimitable Paul Downes, on guitar, mando-cello, mandolin, banjo and harmonies, takes over from Ralph. All four are well known and highly respected performers in their own right.
