FESTIVAL OF REMEMBRANCE – A LEGACY REMEMBERED
The Festival of Remembrance returns to The Civic Trowbridge with this year’s theme, A Legacy Remembered.
This year’s event reflects on the enduring legacy left by those who served, and the generations who carry those stories forward. Through music, readings and moments of reflection, the programme will honour not only the sacrifices made in times of conflict, but the lasting impact felt long after.
At the heart of this year’s programme is Wiltshire at War, a moving new production written and directed by Joanna Jolly. Based on real people and true stories from across Wiltshire during the Second World War, the play follows six characters whose lives were shaped by conflict, from Land Girls and WAAFs to American airmen, Home Guard volunteers and Wiltshire soldiers serving overseas. Their stories of courage, resilience and sacrifice bring local history vividly to life.
Interwoven with popular wartime songs performed by Adrienne Hale and The Steeple Belles close harmony singing group, Wiltshire at War explores both the experiences of those who lived through war and the legacy they left behind.
Join us as we pause to remember, reflect and recognise the legacy that continues to shape our communities.
