About the show
Performing music from his second album Americana (April 2025), Eddie Gripper tells the story of an 8,000 km hitchhiking journey from Alaska to California, completed in under two months in summer 2022. The music captures vast landscapes and unforgettable moments – from the Alaskan wilderness to Santa Monica Pier – offering a vivid, hopeful yet unflinching reflection on American life.
After “already garnering comparisons with the greats” (Jazzwise) for his debut album Home, pianist Eddie Gripper has quickly established himself on the national jazz circuit.
He has worked as performer, promoter and producer with leading musicians including Nigel Price, Simon Spillet and Alex Clarke. As a composer, he collaborated with vocalist Elijah Jeffery on a self-titled 2025 album exploring jazz, singer-songwriter, classical and folk traditions.
In 2024, Gripper completed a 29-date UK and Republic of Ireland tour and continues to perform nationally and internationally, including appearances at Crazy Coqs, Pizza Express and festivals.

Eddie Gripper is an English pianist, composer and educator based in Cardiff, Wales. Born and raised in Oxford, he first moved to Cardiff in 2018 to study under the tutelage of Huw Warren before graduating with First Class Honours from Cardiff University.
He has worked as a performer, promoter and producer alongside top musicians in his field. Including: Huw Warren, Iain Ballamy, Laura Jurd, Alex Merritt, Yuri Golubev, Eric Ford, Kevin Glasgow and John Parricelli.
