About the show

The Long Road Tour 2026

Following a hugely successful run of shows, Steve Knightley and the Winter Yards Band return in Autumn 2026. Best known as co-founder of revered folk phenomenon Show of Hands, Steve Knightley’s latest work blends poetic songwriting with a cinematic acoustic sound, a ‘folk noir’ style which has been winning audiences across the UK. Featuring David Delarre, John Parker and Evan Carson, the show combines songs from the Winter Yards album with powerful new material written on the road — stories of landscape, community and the changing world around us.

David Delarre (guitar)

“Steve’s songs create a landscape and the band gets to colour it in. It’s a really exciting way to play.”

John Parker (double bass)

“There’s a real cinematic quality to the music. It can be very intimate one minute and then suddenly open out into something much bigger.”

Evan Carson (percussion)

“What I love about this band is the freedom. We’re not just accompanying the songs — we’re shaping the atmosphere of them.”

Steve

“With the Winter Yards Band the songs seem to breathe differently — there’s space, atmosphere and a real sense of discovery every night.

Running time 140 minutes

“A craftsman at the peak of his powers” – Tony Hall former Director General of the BBC

“Booked for one track ended up on five!” – Mick Jagger

“Some of the best songs written in the last twenty years” – Mark Radcliffe

Featuring - Steve Knightley

At the 2010 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards Steve won the coveted Best Original Song category with his topical and widely acclaimed song aimed at bankers and MPs – Arrogance Ignorance and Greed.
