About the show
Lead singer for Manfred Mann, leader of The Blues Band, star of stage and screen and presenter of the BBC Radio 2 Blues programme for thirty plus years; Paul Jones has been a household name since the 1960s. He is the voice of worldwide hits 'Do Wah Diddy Diddy', '5-4-3-2-1' and 'Pretty Flamingo and maintains a busy touring schedule as part of The Manfreds.
Ruggedly durable and timeless, the Blues is perhaps more popular today than it has ever been. Young musicians still cut their teeth on its enticing, 12-bar appeal, but its real rewards, true virtuosity, poise and knowledge, only come with age. Founder member of The Blues Band, Paul Jones’ tangled and colourful roots go way back into the true undergrowth of the tradition. What Paul Jones doesn't know about the Blues can be written on a pinhead. Paul Jones was awarded Harmonica Player Of The Year in 2010, 2011 and 2012 at the British Blues Awards., earning him a place the Hall of Fame.
Joined by the all-band of Derek Nash; featured saxophone soloist in the Jools Holland Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, Paul presents an evening of rhythm and blues classics as well as some gems from the Manfred Mann and Blues Band back catalogues as well as some original material. For blues & jazz fans this is a night not to be missed.
Featuring - Paul Jones

Actor and lead singer with first Manfred Mann in the 1960s and later the Blues Band. During his days at Oxford, Paul played blues with the late Brian Jones and could have become front man for The Rolling Stones - but somebody else took that job! We can only wonder how things might have turned out...
Derek Nash Quartet

A master of all saxes from soprano to baritone; Derek is a featured soloist with the Jools Holland Rhythm and Blues Orchestra and is renowned for his energetic and passionate performances. Joining Derek and helping to create this virtuoso quartet is the child prodigy clarinetist, Julian Marc Stringle, Craig Milverton, one of Britain's top jazz pianists, and Steve Thompson completes the group on bass.
