About the show
An evening of classic comedy, poetry and beautiful piano music with Alistair McGowan – three great shows in one!
Following his Sony album reaching Number 1 in the classical charts, Alistair McGowan combined his talents as master impressionist and comedian with his new-found talents as a classical pianist. Last year he published a book of poetry, Not What We were Expecting.
Expect the comedy and impressions for which Alistair is known and loved, plus poignant and clever poetry mised with piano gems by composers such as Debussy, Satie, Mompou, Bryce Dessau, Scriabin and Amy Beach, to name but a few.
Beautiful music, beautiful words, and a large dose of Alistair’s trademark comedy!
“Alistair McGowan’s impressions are faultless” – The Sunday Times
“He plays the piano splendidly” – The Observer
“You don’t get to be a great impressionist without a feel for rhythm and rhyme and pitch. These are terrific, truthful poems” – Sir Richard Stilgoe

Alistair McGowan
The nation's favourite impressionist, also known for his brilliant stand-up and acting. McGowan is best known for his work with Ronni Ancona on The Big Impression (formerly Alistair McGowan's Big Impression), which spawned his culturally popular impressions of David Beckham, Sven-Goran Eriksson, Gary Lineker, Richard Madeley, Tony Blair, Ross Geller (Friends) and Dot Cotton (EastEnders). His one-man stand-up shows are also critically acclaimed. "Wickedly funny mimicry" - Sunday Mirror. "Even if Alistair McGowan wasn't an impressionist and stuck simply to stand-up gaggery, he'd surely be one of the best comics on the circuit. As it is, he gives us a double layer of excellence" - This Is Nottingham
