About the show
Tom Hingley is an accomplished singer songwriter and guitarist, best known as the Ex lead singer with Manchester’s finest Inspiral Carpets, he sang on all the bands hits and was present at the height of their success.
Tom parted with Inspirals in 2011 and has been forging a successful solo career both as an acoustic singer releasing Keep Britain Untidy (2001) and The Grand Mal (2024). Lenny Kravitz once said Tom ‘should be singing on Broadway’ at the filming of the TV the Beat in 1991.
In the past year Tom has performed concerts in the UK and Ireland, and shows in Bologna and Hong Kong.

As a solo artist, Tom performs original music; a blend of Folk, Soul, Gospel and Blues, in addition to renditions of Inspiral Carpets classic songs, and is an animated and eclectic performer on slide guitar also.

He moved to the North West in the mid-eighties from his Oxford home and in 1989 he became the vocalist for Inspiral Carpets. The band went on to have eleven top forty singles between 1990 and their initial split in 1995.
Tom's charm and charisma remain, and his extraordinary vocal range is as accurate and powerful as ever, incorporating soul, r'n'b and jazz.
