About the show
Jeremy McMurray and the Pocket Jazz Orchestra return to ARC, launching another exciting season of live jazz.
For this special opening concert, the band is delighted to welcome Mick Donnelly as its featured guest. One of the North East’s finest and most experienced saxophonists and flautists, Mick has enjoyed an extraordinary career performing at the highest level, both in the UK and around the world.
Mick is also presently working with the internationally acclaimed singer Lisa Stansfield, performing saxophone and flute as part of her live touring line-up across the UK, Europe and beyond.
After early engagements at London’s legendary Café de Paris and the Hippodrome in the West End, Mick went on to record and tour with an incredible list of international stars. His credits include Barry White, Britney Spears, Sting, The Bee Gees, Ronan Keating, Kool & The Gang, Lisa Stansfield, Sammy Davis Jr., Whitney Houston, Lulu, Shirley Bassey, Jr Walker, Princess, Tony Bennett, Desmond Dekker, Gene Pitney, Steps, The Four Tops, Ben E. King, Boy Meets Girl, Madness, Bob Mintzer, Spear of Destiny, Ian Dury, Imagination, Bobby Shew, The Temptations, Kiki Dee, Stewart Copeland, Robbie Williams, Dexys Midnight Runners and Swing Out Sister, among many others.
Now based in the North East, Mick brings his wealth of experience, superb musicianship and unmistakable saxophone sound to the intimate setting of ARC for what promises to be a spectacular start to the new season.
