About the show
The Voice of Hind Rajab (2025) is a docudrama directed by Kaouther Ben Hania that recounts the 2024 Gaza tragedy where 5-year-old Hind Rajab was trapped in a car with her killed family members. The film blends archival, real-life audio recordings of Hind's pleas with re-enactments, focusing on the harrowing, hours-long rescue attempt by Palestinian Red Crescent volunteers, highlighting their impossible choices and ultimate, tragic failure to save her.
The film recreates this emergency as a powerful narrative work using actual call recordings and scripted re-enactments based on first-hand testimonies and transcripts.
The film was greeted with a 23-minute standing ovation at its premiere at the 82nd Venice Film Festival, about a quarter of the film’s running time, with journalists and festival attenders reportedly sobbing in the auditorium
At the 98th Academy Awards, it was nominated for Best International Feature Film as the Tunisian entry. At the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, it was also nominated for Best Non-English Language Film
