About the show
Based on author Ronald Harwoods’ own experience as Dresser to Sir Donald Wolfitt this poignant, heart-warming drama tells the story of an aging actor’s personal assistant who struggles to keep his charge’s life together.
The play captures the sentiment, the bitchiness and the anecdotal backstage as Norman strives to prepare Sir for his 227th performance of King Lear.
Affectionate and comical, this love letter to the theatre is an intelligent glimpse behind the curtain.
Featuring - Southwick Players
The Southwick Players are one of the oldest and most respected amateur theatre companies on the south coast. Established in 1935 they have a long history of producing quality plays and musicals that have had audiences returning year on year. The Players are committed to producing five productions a year at the Barn Theatre in Southwick. They also have an established youth group S.P.Y. (Southwick Players Youth) which has introduced many youngsters to the stage for the very first time.
