The Legacy of Hyde Band: A Musical Journey
The Hyde Band’s heritage is deeply woven into the cultural fabric of Fordingbridge. Founded in 1895 by the visionary Mr. H. E. “Bert” Shutler, the band began its story in the charming Gorley area.

Originally formed as a modest Fife and Drum Band, the ensemble soon grew and evolved into the Brass Band we know and cherish today. Over the decades, Hyde Band has flourished—adapting to changing musical styles and continuing to serve the community with passion, pride, and unity.

Through countless concerts, parades, and community events, the band has fostered a spirit of camaraderie and enriched Fordingbridge’s cultural landscape. Every performance carries the legacy of togetherness and dedication.

As we celebrate this special concert, we honour a proud musical tradition that continues to inspire generations—past, present, and future.
