About the show
Scottish singer and songwriter Ainsley Hamill brings a powerful voice, captivating stories and a soulful approach to traditional song. Blending Gaelic and Scots repertoire with original songwriting, her music connects Scotland’s folklore and landscapes with the lives and stories of today.
Her latest album, Fable, draws on Scottish myth and storytelling and was nominated for Album of the Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards. It follows Not Just Ship Land, named Folk Album of the Month by The Guardian. Her festival appearances include Glastonbury, Celtic Connections and Tønder Festival.
Performing as a duo with multi-instrumentalist Toby Shaer, Ainsley brings together vocals, guitar and harmonium in arrangements with a rich, full sound. Spirited Gaelic mouth music and upbeat songs sit alongside tender, reflective moments, with warmth, humour and stories woven throughout the evening.
