Wiltshire Council has made the difficult decision to temporarily close City Hall for the foreseeable future until it is deemed as safe as possible for you to visit, and in a way that doesn’t put undue pressure on the council’s challenging finances.
This means that the performances currently on the schedule, which were due to recommence from next year, will now no longer take place at the venue. We will be in touch very soon to fully refund those of you who have tickets booked, and we apologise for an inconvenience this may cause you. There is no need for you to contact us to arrange refunds, and your patience is very appreciated while we carry out this work.
COVID-19 has had a big impact on Wiltshire Council’s finances, so this is the most sensible decision to make now and removes any immediate uncertainty.
We could have continued to schedule performances, but given the current fast-changing situation, it was very likely we’d have to regularly reschedule them.
At the moment, with COVID-19 cases rising nationally, it cannot be said with any certainty when performances can recommence in 2021. In light of this it makes sense to formally temporarily close.
We should point out that this decision is still subject to a councillor call-in period, which comes to an end on 22 October. However, if the situation does change in any way as a result of this process, we will let you know.
We look forward to welcoming you back to City Hall as soon as possible for you to enjoy many more memorable performances on stage, and really appreciate your understanding.
