Though known most widely for their 90s call to arms Ginger, and their TV superstardom, on the Jack Doherty show, there is so much more to be drawn from the otherworldly experience that is a David Devant and his Spirit Wife performance.
Not just glorious glam infused classic pop anthems, Ginger, Radar or the masterpiece debut album Work, Love life, Miscellaneous. A whole treasure trove of musical and visual treats await. The recent Cut Out and Keep Me album being up there with the best work of their career and it's all done by kindness.
David Devant & His Spirit Wife
In an era where most Britpop stars have as much stage presence as a sack of wet compost, David Devant and his Spirit Wife's vaudevillean extravaganza is a rare delight. Utilising film, slides and a steady stream of DIY props, this sextet house their wry, glam-influenced pop in a multimedia assault on the senses. Think Ziggy Stardust via Vic Reeves' Big Night Out and you're halfway there. Their many fans include comedian Dave Gorman and Art Brut's Eddie Argos. DD&HSW are still performing their infectious 90s anthems 'Ginger' and 'Cookie', along with new material.
