Adam Hills in conversation w/ Mike McCartney
About the show
The UK’s newest, and most unlikely, comedy duo invite you to an evening of Fotos, Funnies and Family Stories. Since presenting a show together at Bristol’s Slapstick Festival in 2024, Mike McGear McCartney (Scaffold) and Adam Hills (The Last Leg) have become great friends and quite the double-act.
They’ve performed two sold-out shows in Bristol, and another at the Park Theatre in London. Now they’re coming to Liverpool - where Mike was born in 1944, and Adam’s great-grandfather left for Australia in 1910.
Together, Mike and Adam will regale their audience, and each other, with stories of their childhoods, their families, and their careers – all accompanied by photos, props and memorabilia.
Mike’s pics chronicle his early days in Liverpool, his comedy career (having Scaffold hits with Lily The Pink, Thank U Very Much and Liverpool Lou), and his brother’s attempts to form a band (you may have heard of The Beatles).
As a venerated photographer, Mike has held exhibitions at London’s National Portrait Gallery, the prestigious Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC, and The Museum of Liverpool, where he presented his photos to Queen Elizabeth II (and made her laugh).
Adam’s photos and props will illustrate his upbringing in the sunny suburbs of Sydney, his career in comedy, the birth of The Last Leg, his love of Disability Sports, and his attendance at King Charles’ Coronation.
Together Mike and Adam promise a fascinating evening, covering two separate but strangely similar careers in comedy and entertainment. And yes, if you’re lucky, they may do a song or two.
