About the show

Classical vocal ensemble La Nova Singers return to St Peter’s this December with ‘Voices of Christmas’, a night of festive magic and spine-tingling harmonies. The centrepiece is Benjamin Britten’s ‘A Ceremony of Carols’, accompanied on harp by acclaimed harpist Rachel Masters.

Britten’s atmospheric ‘Ceremony of Carols’ combines Medieval poetry with exciting rhythms and harmonies, bringing to life the mystery and majesty of the Christmas story. This concert sets it alongside new arrangements of favourite carols and festive classics - all designed to bring out the soaring beauty and agility of La Nova Singers’ female voices.

The special guest musician for this concert is Rachel Masters, one of the UK’s foremost harpists and former Principal Harp of the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Amongst her many accomplishments, she has performed at Glyndebourne Festival Opera, and has recorded the Ceremony of Carols with the Choir of King’s College, Cambridge.

Dorset-based La Nova Singers have been delighting audiences across the South for more than two decades, combining vocal excellence with an eclectic repertoire - and a touch of glamour! Musical Director and soprano Michelle Nova leads the group, and they enjoy the versatile musicianship of Simon Gilliver as their regular pianist.

The choir are delighted to be back performing in St Peter’s Church in Parkstone, one of the local area’s most exciting live music venues. Expect beautiful acoustics and a genuinely special atmosphere!
