Transatlantic Sessions returns for 2025, exploring and celebrating the rich musical traditions that connect Scotland, Ireland and the US.
An annual focal point of Celtic Connections, the exclusive line-up combines guest singers and the celebrated house band, inviting them to interweave original material with age-old tunes and songs as they explore shared roots and find new common ground.
An array of guest singers from both sides of the Atlantic will be announced shortly.
Aly Bain
Possibly Scotland's finest fiddle player in the Celtic tradition, Shetland-born Aly Bain helped to establish the Boys of the Lough and has continued to play with the band ever since, whilst simultaneously pursuing his solo career.

Jerry Douglas
Winner of multiple Grammy awards and feature player in the Alison Krauss band, 'Dobro's matchless contemporary master' is a fantastically versatile and inventive instrumentalist, his unique bluegrass style securing his status as an American musician. Although famed for his part in numerous different acts, it is as a soloist that he stands out as a true visionary.

Phil Cunningham
World famous accordion player and composer, Phil Cunningham emerged with Silly Wizard and has played with the likes of Bonnie Raitt, Relativity, Altan, Paolo Nutini, Mark Knopfler, and Dolores Keane.

John Doyle
John Doyle’s gifts as guitarist, songwriter and vocalist have played an essential role in the ongoing renaissance of Irish traditional music. Now living in the states, John was the recent musical director for Joan Baez and toured with her for 2 years. One half of the stellar duo Liz Carroll and John Doyle, he is also a founding member of the internationally acclaimed Irish group Solas.
