Cowley resident Charlotte Ellis has got the most remarkable family history I've ever heard, it would make a swashbuckling movie. Her grandmother was 14 years old when she was left stranded separated from her parents in Brittany in 1939 after a vast Panzer Division rolled into Quimper.

Her name was Antonia Hunt, and she had to rely on guile and survival instincts to survive behind enemy lines for five years, mostly in Paris. I'm reading her pacy autobiography now, entitled "Little Resistance", a pulsating pageturner.
