On the eve of the 50th anniversary of Benjamin Britten’s death, the Leonkoro Quartet performs the third string quartet, completed in Venice a year before his death.
Haydn’s Op.76 No.5 quartet features a particularly lyrical and heartfelt slow movement. Devastated with grief following the death of his sister Fanny, Mendelssohn’s Op.80 quartet veers between tenderness and anguish and was his final work before his own death.
