Christopher de Bellaigue is the author of eight books, including The Islamic Enlightenment, which was shortlisted for the Baillie-Gifford Prize, and the first volume of his Ottoman trilogy, the highly acclaimed The Lion House: The Rise of Suleyman the Magnificent. He has reported from five continents for The Economist, the New York Review of Books, the BBC and unHerd. He is founder of the Lake District Book Festival.
