About the show

The Millom Palladium, located in the heart of Millom, Cumbria, opened in 1910 during a period when live entertainment was at the centre of British social life. Built as a theatre and music hall, the Palladium quickly became a cultural hub for the town, hosting variety shows, touring performers, comedians, singers, and community events for local audiences.

As tastes and technology evolved, the Palladium adapted. By the early-to-mid 20th century, it transitioned into a cinema, bringing silent films-and later "talkies"-to Millom. During both World Wars, the building remained an important morale booster, providing entertainment and a sense of escapism for civilians, workers, and service personnel stationed or working nearby. For generations of locals, the Palladium became a place of shared memories, first dates, and communal experiences.

Like many historic cinemas, changing entertainment habits in the late 20th century led to its closure, and the building faced an uncertain future. However, rather than being lost, the Millom Palladium was saved through community effort and restoration, allowing it to retain much of its original character while finding new purpose.

Today, the Millom Palladium has been carefully restored and repurposed as a community venue, hosting live performances, events, film screenings, and private functions. Its stage, auditorium, and backstage areas still reflect its theatrical past, and the building remains deeply woven into the town's cultural identity.

We're looking forward to welcoming our customers as they join us for our paranormal event at Millom Palladium, where we'll explore the history, atmosphere, and stories still held within this much-loved and atmospheric theatre.
