About the show
Our Classical Music Series presents Gerald Flotats on Cello and Julian Chan on piano. Multiple-prize-winning Catalan Gerard Flotats was the principal cellist of the European Union Youth Orchestra and is often invited to play with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the Spanish National Orchestra. He plays an Amati cello from the 1680s.
The programme will include Beethoven’s Cello Sonata No 5, ‘alternately explosive, brooding and tender’, and Brahms’ Cello Sonata No 2, ‘a powerful and complex work that pushes both cello and piano to their expressive limits.’
