Widowspeak
Widowspeak formed in a Brooklyn apartment in 2010. Singer/Songwriter Molly Hamilton and drummer Michael Stakiak grew up in the North-Western state of Washington, uprooted to New York in their late teens and slowly developed the band, picking up guitarist, Robert Earl Thomas along the way. With the arrival of Robert's rust-belt guitar sound, the bands skeleton shape began to take shape. Writing became a collaborative effort, and Widowspeak racked up an arsenal of songs.
The trio offer up heartache and reeling guitars in equal measure. An eerie ambience, at times channeling 1950's jukebox pop, at others, 1960’s psychedelia or even Ennio Morricone spaghetto-style soundtracks, while garnering comparisons to slow-moving 1990's acts such as Mazzy Star or Cat Power,
