Language Of Flowers

Language of Flowers formed in Belfast in 1992, playing one gig in Derry, and then never played again for another ten years.

After recording a 4-track demo in 2003, the band signed to Portland's Shelflife Records and released their debut album 'Songs About You' the following year. The album was well received with reviews noting the band's classic indie pop influences from bands such as The Field Mice and Heavenly, as well as The Smiths, Comet Gain, The Go-Betweens and Lush. After a load of gigs in the UK, Germany & Sweden, they went their separate ways in 2007. Marc formed 'Solemn Novena', while Ben and Colm started up 'Help Stamp Out Loneliness'.

After a few intermittent gigs in the early 2010s, nothing new happened until Daydream Records reissued 'Songs About You' on several different coloured vinyl in 2025. The band started writing again, now in a more Dream Pop style and used the reissue money to start recording again.
