Sam Wilkes
Sam Wilkes is a Los Angeles bassist who is an integral part of his city’s thriving jazz scene. Wilkes is best known for his work with saxophonist Sam Gendel, Louis Cole, and KNOWER, as well as a funk outfit Scary Pockets. Pitchfork described his debut record WILKES, released last year as “a remarkably easy record to listen to, inviting in its warmth but also not too smooth”, featuring regular collaborators Gendel, Cole, Brian Green and more.
