About the show

June's Story is about a family on the margins. June has raised her granddaughter Angel from birth. She wants to do a better job with her than she did with her own children. They are living on the notorious Penstone Estate in SE15 and Angel attends Penstone High with an Ofsted rating of Requires Improvement. June targets a scholarship place for Angel at a select private school. When disaster strikes and June's plans detonate, what lengths will she go to in order to secure Angel's future? Themes include unfairness and inequalities suffered by diverse communities like Travellers and other minority groups.
