Dean Helliwell

Deployed & Unsupervised

Raised By Order, Ruined By Freedom

From childhood, we're taught discipline, routine, obedience, AND IN THEORY, how to navigate life. Then adulthood comes along, rips off the training wheels, hands us complete freedom and expects us to know what the hell we're doing with it.

Suddenly, we're making terrible decisions, questioning everything, desperately searching for purpose, connection and somewhere to belong, all while pretending we’ve got it all figured out.

In Deployed & Unsupervised, Dean takes a honest look at the spectacular mess of being human: From childhood struggles, being born abroad & raised in Cumbria,

Hating authority, conformity and regulations - which is why he joined the military! A institution famously known for its relaxed approach to all three! His outrageous military experiences to the chaos of civilian life after service, questionable decisions, personal set backs…..

and nearly dying at the hands of colonel sanders and his Kentucky Fried Chicken!
