About the show

A haunting contemporary dance work inspired by one of nature’s strangest phenomena “An amazing dance performance, with performers displaying incredible synchronicity, creating primal forms and dreamlike visuals.” – Broadway Baby

A haunting work exploring the fragile boundary between individuality and the collective from Taiwanese choreographer Chuang Po-Hsiang with his internationally acclaimed company D_Antidote Production.

Palingenesis is inspired by the “Rat King” phenomenon in which rats become fatally entangled by their tails. Lithe, masked bodies twist, bind and transform into uncanny biological forms, inhabiting a dreamlike audiovisual landscape. Are they individuals, a single organism or both? Informed by a biological concept of regeneration, this timeless, absorbing dance is an extreme expression of intimacy, trust and transformation.

Palingenesis examines humanity’s growing dependence on external validation and the gradual erosion of the self in the digital age.
